Mark Strachan

Mark first played croquet at Carrickmines Croquet Club in Dublin with his father, Douglas Strachan, who taught him the game when he was only 8 years old.

Father and son entered the Irish Doubles Tournament together when Mark was 11 and he became Irish Handicap Champion before he was a teenager.

Whilst he did not reach the dizzy heights of his father (who played international croquet for Team GB), he has won several croquet competitions including at the Hurlingham Club in London.

He is a member of The Croquet Association and has a handicap of 4.5

“My hero as a boy was the World Champion,
John Solomon, who described croquet as the
queen of games.
Let me show you why he is so right.”
